Amman: Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Abli-Radovan discussed cooperation on Wednesday. The talks focused on strengthening economic, investment, and development cooperation between Jordan and Germany, as well as regional developments and their implications.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi and Abli-Radovan emphasized adopting a clear and institutional approach to convert the strong bilateral relations into tangible economic and developmental achievements. They discussed the increased engagement of the private sector in this endeavor. The ministers explored cooperation opportunities in vital sectors like water, energy, and vocational training. They also discussed following up on the outcomes of King Abdullah II's meeting with representatives from government economic institutions, CEOs, and German companies held on April 2 to boost cooperation.
The ministers agreed to work towards activating and facilitating meetings between the private sectors in Jordan and Germany to foster closer economic ties. The refugee issue was also on the agenda, with both parties stressing the need for continued support to host countries and the United Nations organizations involved in assisting refugees.
Safadi praised Germany for supporting Jordan's economic development and vital projects in the water sector. He expressed appreciation for Germany's ongoing support for Syrian refugees in Jordan and its assistance in providing essential services to ensure a decent living for them until conditions are suitable for voluntary return. Safadi also thanked Germany for its continued support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
