FM Participates in Riyadh Ministerial Meeting on Iranian Attacks

Riyadh: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, participated on Wednesday evening in a consultative ministerial meeting hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to address Iranian attacks targeting several countries in the region. The meeting saw the gathering of foreign ministers from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Turkey, Syria, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Egypt, along with the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, at the invitation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi reiterated Jordan's full solidarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and other Islamic states affected by Iranian attacks. He condemned the actions as violations of international law and state sovereignty, affirming Jordan's support for measures to protect national security, stability, sovereignty, and citizens. Safadi also expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown by partner co untries with Jordan in facing these challenges. The meeting issued a joint statement condemning the Iranian attacks, which targeted residential areas and civilian infrastructure using ballistic missiles and drones. The ministers emphasized that these attacks were unjustifiable and reaffirmed the right of states to defend themselves, in line with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations. They called on Iran to cease its attacks and respect international law, stressing the importance of diplomacy in resolving regional crises. The participants highlighted that future relations with Iran depend on respecting state sovereignty and refraining from aggression. They urged Iran to comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), halt all attacks, and cease supporting militias in Arab countries. Additionally, they condemned Israel's aggression against Lebanon and its expansionist policies. The ministers committed to ongoing consultation and coordination to monitor developments and take nece ssary measures to protect their security and sovereignty. Safadi also engaged in bilateral talks with his counterparts during the meeting.
