London: In a significant move within the global film community, approximately 1,500 actors, directors, and industry professionals, including notable figures such as Yorgos Lanthimos, Ayo Edebiri, Tilda Swinton, Olivia Colman, Javier Bardem, and Mark Ruffalo, have declared a suspension of their collaborations with Israeli film institutions. This decision comes in the wake of accusations that these institutions are complicit in what the signatories describe as "genocide" in Gaza, as articulated in an open letter published in The Guardian.

According to Jordan News Agency, the letter emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "At this critical moment, as our governments allow the massacre in Gaza, we must do everything in our power to confront this complicity." The action is spearheaded by the group Film Workers for Palestine, which advocates for an immediate cessation of cooperation with film festivals, cinemas, and production and distribution companies involved in "whitewashing or justifying the genocide and apartheid system."

The signatories highlighted that most Israeli film institutions and companies have not acknowledged the full spectrum of internationally recognized rights for the Palestinian people, calling for a reevaluation of these partnerships in light of ongoing geopolitical tensions.
