Tyre: Nine civilians, including two children, were injured in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, marking a violation of the existing ceasefire agreement, according to the Health Ministry. The incident occurred when an Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle on the Mansouri-Majdal Zoun road in the Tyre district, causing three of the injured to be in serious condition.
According to Anadolu Agency, the strike also caused panic near a school, as reported by a local education league, which led to distress among students and teachers. The Israeli army has claimed responsibility, stating that the airstrike was aimed at assassinating a Hezbollah commander in the town of Mansouri. The military stated, "Earlier today, the IDF (army) struck and eliminated the Hezbollah Al-Mansouri complex commander in Al Mansouri in southern Lebanon."
The targeted individual was not identified, but the military accused him of planning numerous attacks against Israel, attempting to reestablish the Mansouri complex, and facilitating weapons transfers. Hezbollah and the Lebanese government have not commented on the claim.
A ceasefire has been in place in Lebanon since November, following months of cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah. Lebanese authorities have reported nearly 3,000 violations of the truce by Israel, resulting in the deaths of nearly 200 victims and injuries to 500 others. The ceasefire agreement required Israel to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26, but the deadline was extended to February 18 due to Israel's non-compliance. Israel still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
