JBA and Mexican Envoy Discuss Economic Collaboration Prospects

Amman: Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) Chairman Ayman Alawneh and Mexican Ambassador Jacob Prado Gonz¡lez engaged in discussions regarding the potential for expanding economic, trade, and investment relations between Jordan and Mexico.

According to Jordan News Agency, Alawneh emphasized the importance of transforming the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations into substantial economic and investment partnerships. He highlighted the necessity for launching joint ventures by the private sector in both countries. Alawneh also pointed out Jordan's investor-friendly environment and its strategic advantages as a gateway to regional markets, underscoring the interest in enhancing communication with the Mexican business community to explore opportunities across various sectors.

The Mexican ambassador expressed his country's commitment to strengthening economic relations with Jordan and fostering cooperation among private sector institutions. He encouraged exploring new partnership areas in sectors of mutual interest, aiming to cement the economic ties between the two countries.

The trade volume between Jordan and Mexico was approximately $97 million in 2024, a decrease from $130 million in 2023. Despite this decline, there remain untapped Jordanian export opportunities in the Mexican market, particularly in sectors such as fertilizers, chemical products, jewelry, and non-ferrous and non-precious metal products.
