Amman: JCDC is hosting a workshop aimed at creating a national strategy for community protection during health emergencies. This event highlights the necessity of international collaboration in preparing for global health crises. According to Jordan News Agency, Guido Kimmerling, the German Deputy Ambassador to Jordan, discussed the importance of global readiness for health crises and the need for countries to share experiences and lessons. The workshop's goal is to establish common interests to safeguard communities. Jamila Al-Raebi, WHO's representative in Jordan, highlighted the organization's mission to protect and promote community health. She emphasized community involvement in tackling health crises and their role as a crucial factor in mitigating threats during such events. Al-Raebi noted WHO's efforts in creating response plans for health emergencies, incorporating health care centers, and fostering collaboration across sectors to secure societal protection. Andreas Johnson from Germany's Institut e Robert Koch stressed learning from past epidemic experiences, spreading awareness, and addressing previous crises' shortcomings. Bilal Shteyat, JCDC's Acting Secretary General, elaborated on the center's role in health emergencies and capacity building, detailing Jordan's health system structure and the incident management system. The workshop, continuing until Thursday, includes a simulation exercise on Tuesday. Participants from various sectors will evaluate the current situation and assist national authorities in integrating community protection into health emergency policies and strategies.
