Jordan Affirms Commitment to National Security and Regional Peace

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, reaffirmed that the protection of Jordan's national interests, security, and citizens is the government's top priority. Speaking on the "Sawt Al Mamlaka" program, Safadi emphasized that Jordan will not become a battleground for external conflicts. He stated, "We acted as duty-bound to protect the safety of our people," highlighting Jordan's immediate focus on its security while also supporting Gaza and the Palestinian cause.

According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and an end to the humanitarian crisis. He warned against illegal Israeli actions in the West Bank, which he believes could lead to further instability and undermine the prospects for a lasting peace. He emphasized the necessity of a two-state solution as the only viable path to peace, expressing concerns that the alternative could lead to ongoing conflict or an apartheid-like reality.

Safadi highlighted the global respect earned by His Majesty King Abdullah II due to his leadership and consistent efforts to advocate for stability and peace. He credited the King's direct engagement for Jordan's reputation as a nation of moderation, stability, and security, and noted the unity between the Jordanian people and leadership in upholding these values.

On the diplomatic front, Safadi confirmed ongoing coordination with France and Saudi Arabia to organize an international conference focused on the two-state solution. He stressed the importance of international recognition of the Palestinian state as a political necessity. Safadi refuted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's claims that Arab countries aim to destroy Israel, advocating for the Arab Peace Initiative as a comprehensive peace proposal that includes a sovereign Palestinian state.

Safadi reiterated Jordan's sovereignty as non-negotiable, warning both Israel and Iran against breaching its airspace. He shared that during recent escalations, Jordan communicated firmly with Tehran about its stance on national security. Despite not being a participant in regional conflicts, Safadi asserted that Jordan would act if its sovereignty or people were threatened.

The minister also highlighted Jordan's strategic relations with the United States, characterized by strong cooperation in counterterrorism and economic support. He mentioned King Abdullah's meeting with former President Donald Trump, where Jordan expressed clear opposition to any plans involving the displacement of Palestinians.

Regarding Syria, Safadi noted improved relations, including recent dialogues between King Abdullah and Syrian leadership, and his own visit to Damascus. He emphasized the necessity of stability in Syria for regional stability and expressed support for Syria's reconstruction efforts.

In conclusion, Safadi reiterated Jordan's unwavering commitment to protecting its interests, promoting regional peace, and supporting Palestinian rights and statehood. He affirmed, "Jordan will remain firm, united, and committed to the causes of justice, peace, and stability across the region."
