New York:Jordan and Rwanda have formalized a memorandum of understanding to enhance collaboration in information and communications technology. This agreement was signed during the United Nations General Assembly's 81st session.
According to Jordan News Agency, the memorandum was signed by Jordan's Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Minister Sami Smeirat and Rwanda's Minister of Information Communication Technology and Innovation Paula Ingabire. The signing marks a commitment to advancing shared ICT goals.
The agreement focuses on several priority areas, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital identity, cybersecurity, data protection, telecom infrastructure, digital payment systems, and interconnectivity. Minister Smeirat highlighted the intention to use this partnership to foster cooperation between government bodies, private sectors, and academic and research institutions in both nations, aiming to develop joint projects from the agreed cooperation areas.
Furthermore, the memorandum encompasses initiatives in digital policy, the Internet of Things, big data, smart cities, e-commerce, and data center disaster recovery. To facilitate these efforts, a joint technical committee will be established to coordinate the implementation. The committee will convene quarterly or as necessary to ensure that the areas of cooperation are effectively translated into tangible programs and projects that benefit both countries.
