Amman: Minister of Youth Raed Sami Adwan and Spanish Minister of Youth and Childhood Sira Abed Rego engaged in discussions to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the youth sector, with Spanish Ambassador to Amman, Miguel de Lucas, in attendance.
According to Jordan News Agency, Adwan emphasized the longstanding and historic ties between Jordan and Spain, noting that youth play a critical role in Jordan's political, economic, and administrative modernization efforts. This focus is a national priority and receives significant royal attention. Adwan also discussed Jordan's commitment to implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2250, which focuses on youth, peace, and security, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
Adwan mentioned the ongoing national youth survey conducted by the ministry to determine training and knowledge needs, which will help in formulating the National Youth Strategy for 2026-2030. This strategy aims to empower young individuals as partners and decision-makers. Furthermore, Adwan highlighted the ministry's initiatives for technical empowerment through "Future Stations," which concentrate on artificial intelligence, programming, game development, and English language skills.
Adwan also shared details about Jordan's successful experience in promoting volunteerism through the Al Hussein Award for Volunteer Service, designed to institutionalize and sustain a culture of volunteerism, which has thrived over three editions.
Rego, on her part, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Jordan and emphasized the significance of exchanging expertise in youth work. She shared Spain's experiences in fostering youth participation in public life and adapting to digital transformation. Rego advocated for the establishment of mutual youth exchange programs to share best practices, particularly in the areas of digitization and civic engagement.
