Amman: Jordan and Yemen are exploring avenues to enhance academic cooperation, as discussions took place between Dr. Mamoun Debi'e, Secretary General of the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Rahila Omair, the Yemeni Cultural Attach© to Jordan. The talks centered on expanding cultural and scientific partnerships between the two nations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Debi'e underscored the longstanding Jordanian-Yemeni relations and affirmed Jordan's commitment to supporting Yemeni students in Jordanian higher education institutions. The ministry highlighted several initiatives aimed at serving both Arab and international students, including events honoring top students, a Quran recital competition during Ramadan, and a promotional video competition for studying in Jordan.
The discussions also touched on Jordan's Unified E-admission System, which streamlines the admission process for foreign students at official Jordanian universities. This system is designed to facilitate the enrollment of students from abroad, particularly from Yemen.
The meeting focused on addressing mutual interests in higher education and scientific research. Both parties expressed a commitment to enhancing educational outputs and developing human capacity. They explored mechanisms to further bilateral academic and cultural cooperation, emphasizing support for Yemeni students, addressing their needs, and overcoming any challenges they face.
