Jordan Experiences Slight Temperature Rise Due to Approaching Warm Air Mass

Amman: Jordan will be affected by a relatively warm air mass starting Sunday, causing a gradual and slight rise in temperatures to about two to three degrees Celsius above seasonal averages, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Saturday.

According to Jordan News Agency, Raed Al Khattab, JMD director, mentioned that the weather will be relatively hot across most of the kingdom, with even hotter conditions anticipated in the Badia desert regions, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. The presence of periodic northwesterly winds is expected to provide some relief from the heat, transitioning into moderate nighttime temperatures in most areas.

Maximum daytime temperatures in the capital, Amman, are projected to range between 33°C and 35°C. In the desert areas, particularly the northeastern Badia, temperatures will climb to between 37°C and 38°C. The Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba might experience temperatures touching 40°C.

Al Khattab noted that the normal average maximum temperature for Amman during this time of year is around 32°C, indicating that the expected increase remains within normal summer limits. Current numerical weather models suggest that the rise in temperatures will be temporary, with conditions likely returning to standard summer averages by the end of the week.

The department has advised citizens, particularly those in lowland and desert regions, to avoid direct sunlight during midday hours, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, and ensure that children or flammable materials are not left inside sealed vehicles.
