Baghdad: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin participated in the 28th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, held in Baghdad, bringing together tourism ministers and officials from around the Arab region.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting addressed numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the Arab tourism industry. Discussions focused on strengthening the sector's role in sustainable development, improving balance-of-payments performance, and diversifying income sources for Arab states. The council also explored strategies for generating direct and indirect employment opportunities within the tourism sector.
In a significant move, Hijazin presented a memorandum regarding the ArabiTrips platform initiative. The council's Executive Office approved its adoption, recognizing it as a pioneering Arab platform for tourism promotion. The council expressed gratitude to Jordan for its role in conceptualizing and implementing this innovative platform, urging member states to contribute to its content and encourage private-sector engagement. The platform's efforts are seen as pivotal in boosting joint Arab tourism promotion.
ArabiTrips is distinguished as the first Arab platform dedicated to promoting travel destinations through video content, akin to social media networks. It aims to capture global audiences interested in travel and tourism while fostering direct interaction between viewers and content creators.
Strategically, the platform seeks to empower local communities by showcasing underrepresented heritage, cultural, and natural sites, thereby bolstering local economies and generating employment. Additionally, ArabiTrips supports influencers and content creators across the Arab world through direct contracts, enabling them to produce compelling visual content that highlights the authenticity and allure of tourism destinations.
