Beirut: A Jordanian parliamentary delegation led by Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Haitham Ziyadin has concluded an official visit to Beirut, during which it engaged in discussions with Lebanese officials to enhance parliamentary ties and coordinate on shared concerns.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ziyadin met with Lebanese Foreign and Expatriates Minister Youssef Raji, reaffirming Jordan's steadfast position under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting Lebanon and its citizens. The discussion highlighted Jordan's backing for Lebanon's efforts to reinforce its sovereignty and overcome current challenges, as well as the king's initiatives promoting regional peace and stability.
Raji emphasized the deep, historic bonds between the two nations and expressed appreciation for Jordan's support under King Abdullah's leadership. The delegation also held talks with Fadi Alama, chairman of the Lebanese Parliament's Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Committee, focusing on activating parliamentary diplomacy, strengthening legislative cooperation, exchanging expertise, and expanding economic and development ties.
The Jordanian delegation stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in building bridges between the two countries and advancing cooperation to serve both nations' interests. They called for continued parliamentary coordination to widen bilateral cooperation, building on the distinguished relations between Jordan and Lebanon.
Alama noted that the discussions also covered developments in Lebanon, particularly the situation in the south and Israeli attacks, as well as ways to expand parliamentary cooperation in various sectors, including the economy, environment, energy, water, trade, and health.
