Amman: Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mamoun Al-Debi'e, on Tuesday discussed with the Malaysian Ambassador to Jordan, Muhammad Nasri bin Abdul Rahman, the joint academic relations. During the meeting, Al-Debi'e stressed the desire to build on "brotherly" Jordanian-Malaysian relations. According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Debi'e praised the "distinguished" level of Jordanian universities, expressing a desire to increase the number of Malaysian students in Jordan. In this context, he referred to the official visit of the ministry's delegation scheduled for next February, which aims to hold talks with Malaysian officials and conduct field tours in the country's schools to promote Jordanian universities. He also called for taking into account the interests of Jordanian students enrolled in Malaysian universities to overcome any difficulties, in accordance with Malaysian regulations and instructions. Meanwhile, the envoy praised the compliance of Jordanian stude nts in Malaysia with the country's instructions, stressing keenness to follow up on their affairs. The diplomat called for increasing the number of Malaysian students enrolled in Jordanian universities, specifically in the specializations of Islamic Sharia and Arabic language. Additionally, the envoy noted the Malaysian side sent students for the first time this year in the specializations of mechanical engineering and information technology due to the excellence of Jordanian universities in these areas. To date, a total of 2,011 Malaysian students are enrolled in Jordanian higher education institutions at the beginning of the current academic year 2024-2025.
