Amman: The Ministry of Education unveiled its first-quarter achievements report for the year, highlighting a package of projects aimed at improving education outcomes, upgrading the school environment, and accelerating digital transformation through pioneering initiatives.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry said it had stepped up efforts to advance digital education through innovative programs and upgraded infrastructure, in line with HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II's vision to enhance education efficiency through technology.
The ministry reported that Jordan's education sector is undergoing a comprehensive digital transformation, with the artificial intelligence-supported "Siraj" platform taking center stage after training more than 80,000 teachers and creating nearly one million student accounts. This has been accompanied by the launch of the unified "Ajyal" platform to develop education management and the expansion of the "Darsak" platform with a vast content library exceeding 20,000 educational videos.
The ministry also highlighted its efforts in equipping 1,500 schools with Wi-Fi services and updating connectivity and cybersecurity agreements for thousands of educational sites. A pilot study, conducted in cooperation with Google and the World Bank, provided students with Chromebook devices to assess their impact on academic performance.
During the first quarter, the ministry established 15 new schools with 260 classrooms; implemented 15 classroom expansion projects, adding 87 rooms; and carried out maintenance and rehabilitation works in 250 schools. Additionally, 34 newly established schools and 50 classroom expansion projects were supplied with school and office furniture, benefiting 490,000 students from the school feeding program.
The ministry acquired 14 plots of land and allocated three others to support public-private partnership projects, aligning with the government's plan to build 500 school projects. The Cabinet approved the draft Education and Human Resources Development Law, which was subsequently passed by parliament. This law aims to unify the authorities responsible for the education system, improve the quality of its outcomes, and align education outputs with labor market needs, including the establishment of a national council for human resources development.
The ministry launched the 2026-2030 education strategy, which focuses on digital transformation and inclusive education. It also began implementing the first phase of a school transport project in partnership with the private sector, benefiting 9,089 students and 849 staff across 61 public schools in the southern Badia. This initiative provides free school transportation, operating 115 buses equipped with tracking and monitoring systems, and creates over 200 jobs in its initial phase.
Further, 3,000 teachers enrolled in the professional diploma program, 375 joined educational leadership programs, and approximately 70,000 teachers were trained on digital learning platforms. More than one million student accounts were created, and vocational and technical education (BTEC) specializations expanded to 14 fields.
The ministry introduced five specialized classrooms for students with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities and prepared 14 additional schools to receive students with disabilities, bringing the total number of equipped schools nationwide to 1,534. It recruited 200 additional support teachers in special education, raising the total to 1,500, and provided 21 hearing-impaired students with assistive devices.
In scientific and technological achievements, 60 students participated in competitions, securing advanced positions, including first place globally in the Junior Computing Olympiad. A total of 4,760 students participated in 20 local scientific events, with King Abdullah II School for Excellence in Zarqa securing second place globally at the Investment and Entrepreneurship Forum in Bahrain. Schools across the kingdom also achieved strong results in the 2026 El Hassan bin Talal Award for Scientific Excellence.
