Amman:National consultations on a draft policy for inclusive early childhood education and a related quality standards framework concluded on Thursday, with participants suggesting revisions before final versions are prepared.
According to Jordan News Agency, the two-day consultations were organized by the Royal Academy for Inclusive Education in cooperation with Caritas Jordan. The event included experts, specialists, and representatives from relevant institutions.
The second day of the consultations focused on the inclusive education quality standards framework. Discussions highlighted key outcomes from the first day's dialogue on the draft national policy, examining their impact on the proposed standards.
Iman Zboon, a member of the technical team responsible for the national policy, presented the general framework and review mechanism, with Mayada Natour, the academy's Director General, in attendance. Zboon's presentation detailed the framework's structure, alignment with age groups and service types, and areas guiding the review process.
Participants assessed the standards, indicators, and verification criteria, emphasizing clarity, consistency with child rights, inclusivity principles, and practical implementation. Working groups proposed amendments, identified issues needing further review, and evaluated the consistency between the national policy and standards framework.
On the first day, the draft national policy was reviewed through working sessions focusing on policy directions, funding, and proposed amendments. Recommendations were documented for consideration.
The consultations aimed to engage stakeholders in developing the national policy and quality standards framework, enhancing their consistency, applicability, and measurability to support inclusive early childhood education services.
