Cairo: Jordan's Ambassador to Egypt, Amjad Adaileh, on Tuesday represented the Kingdom at the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), currently held in Egypt and organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) in cooperation with the Egyptian government. The event saw wide Arab and international participation. According to Jordan News Agency, Adaileh attended the WUF12 opening on Monday, which was held under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The opening was attended by heads of state, Arab and international delegations, ministers, specialized experts, and UN representatives. Adaileh delivered Jordan's speech on behalf of Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Al-Samen. He participated in the ministerial session held under the theme "Multilevel Governance for a Sustainable Urban Future," discussing issues related to participation and the future vision of sustainable development. During Jordan's speech, which was delivered to the organizer along wi th the countries' speeches and published on the Forum's website, Adaileh emphasized Jordan's commitment to urban development through the National Urban Policy and the New Urban Agenda at both national and local levels. Adaileh noted that the Economic Modernization Vision, launched by His Majesty King Abdullah in 2023, serves as a national roadmap to improve the quality of life for citizens. It aims to enhance livelihoods and access to better services, aligning with development principles and plans. He highlighted Jordan's progress in aligning its national strategy with global and regional housing strategies, including the Global Housing Strategy, the Arab Strategy for Housing and Urban Development, the strategy of the Union for the Mediterranean, and the New Urban Agenda. In conclusion, Adaileh stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to create effective plans aimed at achieving broad development through international partnerships. This approach seeks to ensure equitable benefits from development an d maintain international balance in sustainable development sectors, consistent with United Nations goals.
