Amman: The Jordan Press Association (JPA) Council embarked on a visit to the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV) and the Jordan News Agency (Petra) as part of its strategic initiative spanning from 2025 to 2028 to engage with media institutions.
According to Jordan News Agency, the delegation was led by JPA President Tareq Momani, Vice President Awni Dawood, along with several council members. They engaged in discussions with Gheith Tarawneh, Chairman of the JRTV Board of Directors, Director General Ibrahim Bawareed, and various department heads. The focus was on the media and editorial sectors, where the JPA expressed its appreciation for JRTV's professionalism and quality content that mirrors Jordanian cultural and social values.
The JPA emphasized the necessity of implementing a flexible work system for journalists at JRTV, acknowledging the challenges of rotating shifts and extensive fieldwork. They further called for a distinct separation of the journalists' union allowance from other bonuses, reaffirming their support for the institution and its personnel.
In response, Tarawneh and Bawareed provided insights into JRTV's operational framework, programming, and future projects, including plans to establish a media academy. They expressed their willingness to collaborate with the JPA to enhance the media sector in Jordan.
The council also made a stop at Petra News Agency, engaging with Director General Fayrouz Mubaidin and other department leaders and journalists. The JPA commended Petra's editorial contributions, recognizing it as a cornerstone of national media with significant influence on Jordanian journalism across different eras.
Momani highlighted the JPA's readiness to work with all stakeholders to continue supporting Petra, aiming to improve operational development, staff conditions, and achieve strategic objectives. Mubaidin, in return, expressed her enthusiasm for enhanced cooperation with national institutions like the JPA. She emphasized Petra's expertise and readiness to collaborate on training initiatives, advocating for strengthened cooperation on mutual priorities.
