King Abdullah II Discusses Regional Stability with UK Foreign Affairs Committee Chair

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received the Chair of the UK House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee MP Emily Thornberry and an accompanying delegation, according to a royal court statement. The meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, covered ways of enhancing the close ties between Jordan and the United Kingdom.

According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions also included regional developments, with His Majesty emphasizing the importance of maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and increasing international efforts to provide aid. The King highlighted the grave implications of Israel's unilateral actions against Palestinians in the West Bank and the ongoing violations at Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Furthermore, His Majesty expressed gratitude for the UK's support for peace initiatives, reaffirming the two-state solution as the sole path to regional stability. Regarding Syria, the King underscored that its security and stability are crucial for the broader region's stability.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
