Labor Minister Engages with Agricultural and Commercial Sectors in Mafraq

Mafraq: Minister of Labor Khaled Bakkar met with representatives from the agricultural and commercial sectors in Mafraq Governorate. During the meeting, he directed the formation of a committee to identify agricultural holdings in the area to preserve the agricultural season.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bakkar emphasized that the joint inspection campaigns, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security Directorate (PSD), aim to regulate the labor market and prevent issues. These efforts focus on identifying available job opportunities for Jordanians and determining the actual labor needs of each sector, as well as preventing the employment of workers in violation of the law.

Bakkar highlighted that the campaigns are intended to enforce the law and are not for show. They are documented through audio-visual recordings to ensure procedural integrity, with all inspections connected to control rooms at the Ministry of Labor and the PSD.

He stressed the ministry's commitment to enforcing the law without tolerating violations, while also ensuring that business operations are not disrupted. The ministry is open to coordinating with any sector to address labor shortages. He noted that the joint inspection campaign was preceded by 60 days of regulatory procedures, allowing employers to rectify the status of their non-Jordanian workers and facilitating their transfer between sectors.

Additionally, Bakkar mentioned a directive allowing non-Jordanian workers with valid work permits to transfer between employers, provided the first employer approves. The minister listened to the representatives' demands regarding their labor needs and their observations about the Ministry of Labor's efforts to enhance labor market organization, as well as the challenges faced by the sectors in Mafraq Governorate.
