AQABA: His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasized the necessity of ending the Israeli war on Gaza as a preliminary step towards achieving comprehensive regional peace during a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday. The discussions, held in Aqaba, highlighted the urgent need for the international community to take swift action to address the ongoing conflict. According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah II stressed the importance of bolstering humanitarian efforts in Gaza during the meeting. The conversation also touched on the recent developments in Syria, where the King reiterated Jordan's commitment to respecting the choices of the Syrian people and emphasized the importance of maintaining the country's security and the safety of its citizens. In addressing the situation in the West Bank, King Abdullah II expressed concern over the potential consequences of unilateral Israeli actions and the continuous violations of holy sites in Jerusalem. He reaffirmed his belief that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to achieving lasting peace and preventing further regional conflicts. The King underscored the critical role of the United States in helping to restore stability in the area. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and US Ambassador to Jordan Yael Lempert.
