Minister of Oil: We look forward to strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan in the field of energy

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed the keenness of the government and the Ministry to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation with the Republic of Turkmenistan in the field of oil and energy.

Abdul Ghani said, during his meeting with the Minister of State for Gas Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan, Maksat Babayev, today, Friday, that Iraq and Turkmenistan have great potential in this oil and energy sector, pointing to the importance of cooperation in the field of supplying gas to electric power stations.

He added, "Signing the memorandum of understanding is an important step to enhance cooperation opportunities, calling on companies in the Republic of Turkmenistan to participate in the promising investment opportunities announced by the Ministry in many fields.

For his part, the Minister of State for Gas Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan, Maksat Babayev, expressed his happiness for the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, considering that the signing of the memorandum of understanding to supply gas to Iraq is the beginning towards increasing the prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

While the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, confirmed, “The memorandum of understanding with Turkmenistan is one of the quick solutions that we are working on in the Ministerial Council for Energy, to enhance production and increase processing hours for citizens.”
