Amman: The National Charter Party on Saturday held the First Economic Charter Conference, themed: "A Future, Sustainable Economic Vision." The event aims to launch a "serious" national dialogue on core economic issues and formulate outcomes that support Jordan's economic modernization paths, strengthen resilience of the national economy, and contribute to the transition to a "more sustainable and comprehensive" development model.
According to Jordan News Agency, launching the conference, Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives and National Charter Party Member, Ahmad Safadi, said the conference seeks to discuss a "sustainable" future economic vision, which requires intensifying national efforts in various fields. Safadi noted the Jordanian parties' programs should constitute an "effective and influential" presence in the form of decisions and legislation that aligns with the vision aimed to serve national interests.
Noting the three axes as the vital society-based role of political parties, he said the first represents the political and the economic aspects, which are a "priority" for citizens, while the social dimension is "inseparable" from the previous two pillars. Any party that fails to provide a "comprehensive" vision for addressing demands of current circumstances would face a major dilemma, losing citizens' trust and ultimately failing to serve the ultimate goal of expanding popular participation in decision-making within the desired role of political parties, he pointed out.
On its significance, he stated the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) is a "fundamental" pillar of the national project envisioned by His Majesty King Abdullah II. Safadi noted this vision is "no less crucial and necessary" than political and administrative reform, which all shape paths of Jordan's comprehensive development, which would create a "new" concept of national achievement outcomes that affect citizens' lives.
