Baghdad: Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid announced that the Arab summit, which commenced in Baghdad on Saturday, is focused on unifying Arab positions in the face of mounting challenges, with an emphasis on political solutions and national dialogue to resolve regional crises.
According to Jordan News Agency, President Rashid highlighted the critical nature of the Baghdad Summit, noting that it takes place under extremely complex circumstances. He emphasized the historic responsibility of Arab leaders to enhance opportunities for regional stability through diplomatic means that benefit the peoples and countries of the Arab world. In his address to Arab leaders, President Rashid accepted the summit's presidency from Bahrain.
President Rashid also drew attention to the plight of the Palestinian people, stating that for nearly a year and a half, they have faced systematic genocide aimed at eradicating their existence. He condemned these aggressive acts and practices, which he deemed violations of international law, and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Iraq's stance against any attempts to displace Palestinians.
The Iraqi leader underscored the indivisibility of joint Arab security, rejecting foreign interference in Arab countries that threatens their security and well-being. He urged for the respect of the people's choices to build their nations and achieve their aspirations.
