AMMAN: The Chairperson of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Fares Brizat, engaged in discussions with the South Korean Ambassador to Jordan, Kim Pil-woo, on Monday. The talks centered on strengthening tourism cooperation, enhancing tourism offerings, and increasing the number of South Korean visitors to Petra and Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions highlighted the potential to position Petra as a key destination for cultural and religious tourism within the South Korean market, given its historical and religious significance. Strategies were also explored to improve training and capacity building in tourism marketing for the Petra region.
Ambassador Kim praised Jordan's efforts to advance its tourism infrastructure, notably the introduction of the "Dark Valley Trail," which offers a unique blend of adventure tourism and Bedouin cultural heritage exploration. Furthermore, he emphasized South Korea's commitment to supporting Jordan's tourism sector, highlighting initiatives like the donation of two electric buses to promote sustainable tourist transport. The ambassador also commended Jordan's adherence to international standards in the preservation of archaeological sites.
