PDTRA Chief and US Congress Delegation Discuss Tourism Cooperation and Projects

Petra: Chairman of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Dr. Fares Breizat, received a delegation from the US Congress, including members of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee. The discussions aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and explore cooperation opportunities in the fields of tourism, culture, and local community development.

According to Jordan News Agency, the two sides went over ways to support projects currently implemented in Petra to enhance tourist infrastructure and improve visitor experiences, while preserving the city's cultural and environmental identity. Talking at the meeting, Breizat highlighted PDTRA's efforts to establish partnerships with U.S. nature reserves and enhance cooperation with American universities and institutions with shared interests, particularly in the areas of scientific research, protection of World Heritage sites, and sustainable tourist development.

Breizat praised the delegation's visit as a step to strengthen joint cooperation, build bridges of partnerships, and support efforts to protect the world heritage of Petra. Touring the city's Nabateen key landmarks, the delegation learned about efforts to preserve archaeological sites, develop tourist infrastructure, and empower local communities.
