QAIA Sees 21.8% Increase in Passenger Traffic in April

Amman: Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 814,819 passengers during the month of April, marking a 21.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year, as reported by Airport International Group (AIG), the operator of the airport, on Wednesday.

According to Jordan News Agency, the airport also recorded 6,446 aircraft movements in April, an 11.5 percent rise from the previous year. However, QAIA handled 5,538 tons of air cargo, which represents a 14.9 percent decrease from May 2024. Between January and April, QAIA welcomed 2,952,141 passengers, reflecting an 11.9 percent increase from the same period in 2024, while aircraft movements rose by 6.9 percent to 23,972. Air cargo during these months dropped by 16.1 percent to 21,695 tons.

Nicolas Devillier, CEO of AIG, expressed satisfaction with the increase in passenger traffic, attributing it to the seasonal travel rush at the end of Ramadan and during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, which allowed many to reunite with loved ones or embark on vacations. He emphasized the airport's commitment to providing a comfortable and welcoming travel experience during this busy period.
