Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Wednesday that Egypt is keen on encouraging investment in energy and renewable energy projects with all partners in the world, in line with a global approach to boost efforts in the face of climate change challenges and to achieve sustainable economic growth.
He was speaking during the inking ceremony of a document on a piece of land allocated for a project to produce a daily three-GW of electricity from the winds in western Sohag.
The document was signed at the Cabinet’s HQ in New Alamain City between the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) and consortium partners Orascom Construction PLC, Toyota Tsusho Corporation and ENGIE.
This document comes after the two sides had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) in November 2022, under which the consortium would build, own and operate (BOO) the new three-GW wind farm in Egypt.
The wind farm extends over 852 kilometers of land allocated for the NREA.
