Amman: Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Dr. Obeidallah Maaytah, emphasized the importance of "operational readiness" during the winter season, highlighting it as a "national necessity" that demands high-level coordination among PSD units and relevant authorities to ensure rapid response and integrated national efforts in addressing unusual weather conditions.
According to Jordan News Agency, during a visit to the PSD's Civil Defense and Operations and Control departments, Maaytah conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah II's greetings to civil defense personnel, expressing pride in their efforts to protect lives and property. He urged for a review of winter emergency plans to ensure optimal services to citizens and called for enhanced coordination with Jordan's ministries and service institutions to achieve unified procedures aligned with the highest standards.
Maaytah highlighted the Civil Defense Department's strategic capabilities, human resources, and technical capacities, reflecting ongoing support from the King. The PSD continues to develop these capabilities to enhance preparedness in providing security and humanitarian services, aligning with best international practices and the comprehensive security work system's approach to modernization and development.
During the winter season, Maaytah directed an increase in public safety awareness campaigns and emphasized community partnership as a crucial element of the civil protection system. He encouraged leveraging past experiences to improve service delivery to citizens. Maaytah received briefings on field preparations and preventive measures from the Civil Defense Director and learned about joint plans for field coordination among PSD units during weather-related incidents.
Maaytah was also informed about newly introduced advanced technical and technological equipment in Jordan's Civil Defense system, aimed at enhancing the ability to respond effectively to various incidents and emergencies.
