Manama, Chief of Public Security Lieutenant-General, Tariq bin Hasan Al Hasan attended the “Officers’ Days” event. A total of 180 officers from the Interior Ministry’s directorates attended the event.

Chief of Public Security asserted that the event came as per the instructions of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to professionally prepare policemen according to the latest training programmes and equip them with the latest technologies to face challenges and risks and to provide the best services for citizens and residents.

The Chief of Public Security pointed out that the Ministry works on investing in technological development and artificial intelligence and linking them to police work to keep pace with the challenges.

He added that the Interior Ministry has adopted the concept of smart police and worked to expand the use of artificial intelligence in smart cities and the use of smart systems in the ministry’s projects.

Chief of Public Security stressed that in addition to the positive advantages of artificial intelligence, there are risks and negative effects on security, as criminals are able to exploit artificial intelligence techniques and applications in organised crime, which requires preparing strategies for the future to cope with these challenges, qualifying human cadres, raising police performance and exchanging expertise to achieve the desired security goals.

Al Hasan appreciated the attendees’ discipline and their keenness to achieve the maximum benefit, wishing everyone success.

The event featured a lecture by Ameen Altajer, the CEO of INFINITEWARE, during which he gave an explanation of the concept of artificial intelligence and its stages and development and some related programmes such as CHAT GPT.

The event also included a lecture given by Mohammed Bualai on “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Policing”, during which he explained the role of the applications in security surveillance operations, reducing accidents and enhancing quick response in emergencies.
