Public Works Ministry and Government Tenders Department Lead in National Integrity Index

Amman: The Ministry of Public Works and Housing ranked third among ministries in the National Integrity Index, while the Government Tenders Department secured first place among government institutions, according to the results of the index's second cycle for 2024/2025. The announcement highlights the significant strides made by both bodies in enhancing their institutional frameworks.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Public Works and Housing Engineer Maher Abul Samen commented on the results, stating that the high rankings are a testament to ongoing efforts to enhance institutional performance. These efforts include the modernization of work systems, expansion of service digitalization, and the development of legislation governing tenders and public procurement, aligning with international standards. Such initiatives aim to simplify procedures and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

Abul Samen further explained that the integrity index plays a crucial role in improving the business environment by fostering transparency and accountability through a structured institutional framework. This framework governs relationships and authorities with partners, with the ministry working to automate technical procedures and services to boost performance efficiency.

He highlighted that the index functions as a benchmark within a system of standards that encourage government institutions to engage in beneficial competition in integrity and governance. This achievement, he noted, serves as motivation to continue development and modernization efforts, creating a work environment resilient to corruption.

Abul Samen concluded that this recognition places an increased responsibility on everyone to double their efforts to uphold the achievement and enhance performance, aiming for the top position among ministries. This would further reinforce the values of rule of law, justice, equal opportunity, and transparency within the government work environment.
