Sanaa:The Saudi-led coalition backing Yemen's internationally recognized government has announced a significant military offensive against Houthi forces, confirming the destruction of 136 military targets in areas controlled by the Houthis.
According to Anadolu Agency, The coalition's spokesman, Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki, communicated via the U.S. social media platform X that the operation is aimed at targeting Houthi fighters and their military capabilities. The coalition is providing continuous air support to Yemeni government forces as part of the ongoing offensive.
Maj. Gen. al-Maliki also highlighted efforts by coalition forces to dismantle and destroy the Houthis' ballistic missile network. This announcement coincides with the intensification of the Yemeni government's offensive, known as Operation 'Dawn of Yemen.'
Earlier in the day, Brig. Gen. Majed Abdullah al-Nadhib, a spokesman for the Yemeni military, reported that over 2,750 strikes had been carried out against Houthi positions within the last 24 hours. He stated these operations resulted in the neutralization of more than 1,400 Houthi fighters and the destruction or damage of over 250 military vehicles and pieces of equipment.
The Saudi-led coalition's air support is part of a broader strategy to reclaim territories, including the capital Sanaa, from Houthi control. The conflict in Yemen has persisted since the Houthis took control of Sanaa in 2014, which led to the coalition's intervention in 2015 in support of the recognized government.
