Senate President Advocates for Enhanced Oversight Following Integrity Report

Amman: Senate President Faisal Fayez received the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission's annual report for 2024 from Commission Chairman Muhannad Hijazi. Fayez emphasized the importance of collaboration among oversight bodies to protect public funds and prevent financial and administrative violations. He stressed the adoption of international practices for auditing and monitoring, and the importance of public awareness in safeguarding public resources.

According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez called for the continuous development of the Commission's work and enhancement of its oversight tools. He advocated for swift action on irregularities to improve Jordan's ranking in global integrity and anti-corruption indices. Fayez commended the Commission's efforts in promoting integrity and combating corruption and reaffirmed the Senate's support in removing legislative barriers. He stated that the report will be referred to relevant Senate committees for discussion in alignment with the Council's oversight responsibilities.

Hijazi reviewed the Commission's achievements in protecting public funds and addressing corruption over the past year. He outlined efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into the Commission's digital transformation processes. Hijazi highlighted the Commission's proactive measures in preventing violations and its educational initiatives. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination with the Senate to fulfill the Commission's mission.

He noted improvements such as a decline in complaints, a rise in the National Integrity Index, greater institutional responsiveness, and a reduction in defamation cases.
