Amman: Middle East Cystic Fibrosis Association (MECFA) has accredited the University of Jordan Hospital (UJH) as a center for conducting and monitoring nutritional assessments for children with this disease in Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the step is part of an initiative launched by MECFA aimed at improving the quality of healthcare provided to cystic fibrosis (CF) patients in Jordan. The hospital stated the accreditation recognizes its medical competencies, which include consultants in pediatric respiratory and gastroenterology, a pediatric nutritionist, and relevant respiratory technicians.
The statement added that these competencies enable the provision of comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services that contribute to improving patients' quality of life.
Commenting on the achievement, the hospital's Director General, Dr. Nader Bsoul, emphasized its commitment to providing the highest levels of care for CF children. Bsoul noted the importance of nutritional assessment in managing this chronic disease, improving child-based physical and health development with the condition, and enhancing treatment through early detection and appropriate nutritional intervention.
On its significance, he stated the certification represents a step to develop a specialized care system and strengthen the hospital's role as a leading center in providing advanced medical services.
