Amman: The Union of Arab Economic and Social Councils and similar bodies called for pan-Arab visions and goals to foster a stronger future, emphasizing the importance of Arab unity and security. Concluding its annual meeting hosted in Amman on Thursday, the Union recommended reviewing its work mechanisms, laws, and regulations to align with current developments, ensuring effective performance, and promoting the establishment of economic and social councils in additional Arab countries. According to Jordan News Agency, the Union underscored the need for building a robust Arab alliance in regional and international spheres, advocating coordinated efforts to achieve sustainable economic and social development across the Arab world. The General Assembly attendees extended their gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II for his warm reception and hospitality, noting this reflects the generosity of Jordan's leadership and people. Their message included: "In light of current events in the Arab region, we reaffirm our support for the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state, to halt aggression against Palestinians, and to stop repeated attacks on their dignity, sovereignty, and property." They also voiced opposition to ongoing attacks on the sovereignty, security, and lands of the Lebanese people. The General Assembly members expressed satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the session in Jordan, voicing hope that the Assembly's recommendations and decisions will positively impact Arab countries' economic and social landscape, contributing to sustainable development across the region. The Union's General Assembly in Amman included representatives from Algeria, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine, Lebanon, Mauritania, Yemen, and Egypt.
