University of Jordan Soars 44 Spots in QS World University Rankings 2026

Amman: The University of Jordan has made a significant leap in the QS World University Rankings for 2026, securing the 324th position globally, an advancement of 44 places compared to last year. The achievement reflects the university's ongoing institutional efforts and its commitment to academic and research excellence, maintaining its lead among Jordanian universities and advancing its regional standing in the Arab world.

According to Jordan News Agency, University President Nathir Obeidat expressed pride in the milestone, dedicating the unprecedented accomplishment to His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and the Jordanian people. He emphasized that the global recognition is the result of strategic planning and a collective commitment to quality and distinction.

"This ranking strengthens the University of Jordan's position among the world's top institutions and highlights the growing international recognition of Jordanian higher education," Obeidat said.

The QS ranking results showed broad improvement across key metrics. The university advanced to 239th globally in academic reputation, a 15% improvement reflecting rising international acknowledgment of its academic and research quality.

It also climbed to 194th in employer reputation, with a 13.1% increase, indicating strong global confidence in its graduates. In the Graduate Employment Impact indicator, the university ranked an impressive 105th worldwide, marking an 8% improvement and showcasing the effectiveness of its academic outputs in the professional world.

On the internationalization front, the university improved to 309th in the percentage of international students, with a 21% rise, underscoring its diverse and attractive academic environment.

Additionally, the University of Jordan progressed in international research collaboration, reaching the 543rd spot globally, up 2.2% from last year. It also saw a 3.8% rise in research impact as measured by citation rates.

Obeidat attributed the progress to the university's investment in faculty, academic programs, international partnerships, and a renewed focus on scientific research, innovation, and enhancing the learning environment. He underscored that such achievements would not have been possible without sustained national support for the higher education sector and the university's unwavering commitment to its mission of serving society and advancing knowledge.
