Zarqa Chamber of Industry Hosts Successful Job Fair with Over 500 Manufacturing Opportunities

Zarqa: The Zarqa Chamber of Industry, in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), held its second job fair on Wednesday, featuring participation from 32 industrial companies from Zarqa and Mafraq governorates. The event showcased around 539 job opportunities across various manufacturing sectors.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hussein Hawatmeh, vice president of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry, spoke at the opening ceremony. He highlighted that despite regional and global political shifts creating substantial economic challenges, Jordan's industrial sector has maintained its production and export momentum. This resilience has helped cushion the national economy, particularly as the country's exports primarily come from the manufacturing and mining sectors.

Hawatmeh noted a significant growth in industrial exports from Zarqa and Mafraq, with a 17% increase in 2024, surpassing $1.5 billion. In the first quarter alone, exports reached approximately $340 million. He emphasized the Chamber's commitment to supporting national efforts in vocational and technical education, professional skill development, and sustainable employment for youth.

The job fair was organized in collaboration with the "Trade for Employment" (T4E) project to activate the Chamber's Employment Support Unit. This unit provides tailored employment services for the industrial sector. Since the beginning of last year, it has facilitated job placements for more than 562 job seekers at over 30 industrial firms in Zarqa and Mafraq.

The fair included a presentation outlining the services offered by the Employment Support Unit, followed by direct engagement between job seekers and company representatives, allowing applications to be submitted for available vacancies. This initiative is part of the ongoing "Enhancing Sustainable Employment in Exporting Companies" project, launched in 2023 through the cooperation between the Chamber and the T4E program. The project aims to strengthen the role of employment units in connecting youth with opportunities in the industrial sector.
