Zarqa Free Zone Emerges as Key Trade and Investment Hub

Zarqa:The Zarqa Free Zone is increasingly recognized as a vital strategic economic pillar, significantly impacting the flow of goods into the local market and countries across the region, according to officials.

According to Jordan News Agency, the zone has witnessed a growth in commercial activity since the start of the year, underscoring the government's efforts to create an attractive investment climate. This initiative aims to enhance the zone's commercial and industrial infrastructure, facilitate the movement of goods, and boost overall economic activity.

Abdul Hamid Al-Gharaibeh, Director General of Jordan Free and Development Zones Group, emphasized the zone's pivotal role in the regional and international trading ecosystem. He highlighted its capacity to attract investments and support commercial, industrial, and logistical activities. The Group is actively developing infrastructure, enhancing service efficiency to investors, expanding digital transformation, and automating procedures to simplify business operations and improve competitiveness.

The next phase involves leveraging existing resources to attract high-quality investments and broaden economic activities, positioning Jordan as a regional trade hub while supporting economic growth and job creation. Al-Gharaibeh also noted the strategic importance of the free zone at Queen Alia International Airport, serving as a gateway for export-oriented industries, particularly in high-value sectors.

Fares Hamoudeh, President of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry, stated that the total trade volume in the zone has reached JD2.789 billion since the beginning of the year, highlighting its significance to trade activities both in the Kingdom and the region. The zone hosts leading factories in sectors such as food production and engineering, contributing to national economic growth and industrial exports.

The resilience of the Zarqa Free Zone is demonstrated by the growth in investment contracts and trade volumes, despite regional and international challenges like supply chain disruptions. Hamoudeh pointed out that these dynamics offer new opportunities for firms to expand operations.

Ayman Hanandeh, head of the Zarqa Chamber of Commerce committee, reported that re-exports in September reached about JD58 million, compared to JD38 million in the same month last year. The Chamber issued 568 certificates of origin, covering a total value of JD57,994,297, with automobiles and automotive accessories leading re-exported goods.
