The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, chaired today, Sunday, the fourth meeting on the project to establish the new Sadr City.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated: "The meeting witnessed the approval of the initial structural designs for the new Sadr City project, after a detailed presentation by the company in charge of preparing them."
He added: "During the meeting, procedures for resolving land ownership of the Ministries of Finance, Construction and Housing, Municipalities and Public Works were also followed up, and the file of abuses on the land allocated for the project was resolved, according to administrative and legal mechanisms."
The meeting also witnessed a discussion of the requirements for completing the project, with regard to the financial position, financing mechanisms, and a discussion of the investment of the project’s power station, as well as reviewing the report of the General Commission for Survey regarding the lands located next to the project, and deciding all the required steps to start implementation.
He stressed the government's determination to complete this important strategic project, in a way that meets the needs of citizens, and contributes real to addressing the overpopulation crisis in the eastern regions of the capital, Baghdad, in addition to its importance in moving the wheel of the private sector, and providing thousands of job opportunities for young people in various specializations.
Al-Sudani stressed the importance of expediting and resolving the files related to the project, and overcoming all obstacles facing it.
The Prime Minister directed the allocation of land to establish an integrated university city in the areas east of the canal, in parallel with the new city project.
