Arab, Islamic Blocs Condemn Israel’s Plan for Full Military Control Over Gaza

Cairo: The ministerial committee, established by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza, along with 23 countries, the Arab League, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, has strongly condemned Israel's intention to impose full military control over Gaza. This statement was made public following a collaborative effort by the foreign ministries of several nations, including Egypt, Palestine, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and others.

According to Nam News Network, the joint statement described Israel's plan as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law. It further condemned the intention as an attempt to strengthen the illegal occupation through force, in contravention of international legitimacy. The statement highlighted that Israel's actions, which include killing, starvation, forced displacement, and annexation of Palestinian land, are tantamount to crimes against humanity.

In Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reaffirmed their opposition to any military re-occupation of the Gaza Strip. They called for an immediate ceasefire and emphasized the need for humanitarian aid, the release of hostages, and the prevention of Palestinian displacement.

Since late July, an international airdrop operation has seen participation from 11 countries, delivering over 1,100 aid packages to Gaza. Notably, Greece and Italy have joined the effort for the first time, in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Germany, and the Netherlands.

While Israel denies allegations of causing starvation, United Nations officials assert that aid efforts remain insufficient without the opening of land crossings for more substantial aid and medical assistance.
