Arab League Secretary-General Condemns Israeli Sovereignty Claims on West Bank.

Cairo: The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has condemned the statements made by Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich concerning the imposition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, labeling them a political absurdity. According to Jordan News Agency, Aboul Gheit, in a statement issued by the Arab League, urged the international community to take decisive action against this extremist position. He warned that such statements could exacerbate tensions in the region and incite further extremism and violence. The Secretary-General emphasized that the remarks by the Israeli minister reflect a complete disregard for international law, which views the West Bank as occupied territory. Under international law, the area cannot be annexed, nor can Israeli sovereignty be imposed, and Israeli settlements there are considered both illegal and illegitimate. Aboul Gheit stated that these comments expose the true intentions of Israel's current government and its broader plan to undermine the Palestinian cause through various actions, including the annexation of occupied territories. He further noted that the Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh has endorsed several mechanisms and strategic plans to counteract the Israeli agenda. The summit's outcome suggests that Israel's agenda aims to dismantle any real prospects for a two-state solution, a concept that has widespread international support.
