BDC, UJ cooperate to empower youth to enter labor market

The University of Jordan (UJ) and the Business Development Center (BDC) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement a series of activities, aimed at enrolling youth in specialized programs to acquire the necessary tools to start their "entrepreneurial" projects and enter the labor market. According to a UJ statement, the memo, which was signed by the university's Vice President for Humanities Affairs, Dr. Nahed Omeish, and BDC Director General, Ghaleb Hijazi, aims to team up in designing programs to provide students with the necessary employment skills and build motivation to establish their own projects. Under the memo, the university said introductory workshops will be held for its students and will engage in training courses to acquire job skills, in line with the labor market requirements. The UJ said students will also be prepared to engage with the local community in empowering youth projects to secure jobs and provide the opportunity for university workers to offer scientific support, training, or consultations, or participate in BDC'S activities. Omeish said the university pays "remarkable" attention to develop its students' skills in its academic programs, by raising their capabilities to fill career opportunities. For his part, Hijazi praised the university's efforts in supporting efforts to enhance its students' skills to secure jobs. Source: Jordan News Agency
