Cabinet Extends Fee Exemption for Export-Oriented Agricultural Goods.

Amman: The Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, has approved the extension of its previous decision to grant a 75% fee exemption on agricultural and horticultural goods prepared for export, provided that the fees are paid by December 31, 2024. This decision aims to bolster the Kingdom's agricultural sector by sustaining operations, preserving employment, and supporting exports to enhance national economic growth, in line with the government's Economic Modernization Vision. According to Jordan News Agency, the decision aligns with the Greater Amman Municipality's Wholesale Markets System for Horticultural Products No. (169) of 2016. Additionally, the Cabinet has adopted the government's Green Procurement Policy Document to mitigate environmental damage and promote green policies. This initiative aims to automate tender procedures, reducing paperwork and boosting environmental safety while combating climate change. Further, the Cabinet has approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and Oman's Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. This MoU focuses on economic and investment development of special economic estates, enhancing expertise transfer and cooperation on laws, regulations, and trade data exchange. In another significant move, the Council approved the Kingdom's membership, represented by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSCJO), in the international arrangements for common standards. This step is intended to strengthen Jordan's standing in cybersecurity, facilitating cooperation in the assessment and accreditation of cybersecurity products, and ensuring high and consistent standards for IT product evaluation and protection profiles. The initiative also aims to improve the availability and reliability of IT products and their certification processes.
