At least 15 people, including a police officers and three house guards, were killed and six others injured Wednesday after an electric transformer exploded in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, police said. The transformer, which was placed at a site designated for a project, exploded, causing an electric short circuit in a bridge spanning the Alaknanda River in Chamoli district, 266 km east of Dehradun, capital of Uttarakhand state, Xinhua reported.
