Environment Minister Stresses Youth Involvement in Climate Discussions at COP29.

BAKU: Minister of Environment, Muawieh Radaideh, underscored the critical role of engaging youth in international climate forums to ensure their voices contribute to the global dialogue on climate issues. This statement was made during a meeting with Jordan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Omar Nahar, and an accompanying youth delegation on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku. According to Jordan News Agency, Radaideh highlighted the significance of Jordanian youth representation at the conference, emphasizing that their involvement provides a platform to communicate their aspirations and achievements to the world. He referred to a session titled "Advancing Progress on the Global Framework on Children, Youth, Peace, and Climate Security," where climate activist Hala Weshah spoke on behalf of Jordanian youth. Radaideh discussed Jordan's contributions to COP29, including two policy papers from the Regional and Local Conferences of Youth. These documents address regional climate challenges and offer recommendations on c limate change, security, renewable energy, and empowering vulnerable communities. He also mentioned that three young Jordanians are part of the country's international negotiation team, following intensive training to enhance their representation skills. The minister emphasized the importance of Jordanian environmental startups in climate initiatives, viewing them as vital partners in transforming challenges into opportunities. During the meeting, young participants expressed their pride in representing Jordan and shared their ideas and achievements related to climate action. The meeting concluded with a commitment from the Ministry of Environment to support youth in achieving sustainable development goals, encouraging them to use their experiences for both personal and national advancement.
