Ankara: In a recent phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized Ankara's sensitivities, urging that Venezuela not be left to instability. Erdogan reiterated his commitment to stand by the people of Venezuela in their pursuit of prosperity, peace, and development, following a Cabinet meeting in Ankara.
According to Anadolu Agency - English, Erdogan warned against actions that violate the sovereignty of nations and international law, stating such steps could lead to severe global complications. He emphasized that Trkiye is committed to upholding justice, legitimacy, and international law, positioning itself as a global advocate for these principles.
Erdogan highlighted the enduring friendship between Venezuela, under President Nicolas Maduro, and Trkiye, citing their mutual support in challenging times. The Turkish leader expressed his disapproval of the recent U.S. military action in Venezuela, which resulted in the capture of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who are facing drug trafficking charges in New York.
Erdogan reaffirmed Trkiye's clear stance against injustice and oppression, noting the country's significant progress on the world stage. He warned against attempts to destabilize the region and stated that Trkiye would not be deterred by such efforts.
Additionally, Erdogan addressed the issue of terrorism, describing it as an imperialist tool against Trkiye. He emphasized Trkiye's historic opportunity to eradicate terrorism and vowed to continue efforts towards a 'terror-free Trkiye' with determination and patience.
