GID Issues 12,370 Fatwas in First Week of Ramadan

Amman: The General Iftaa Department (GID) issued 12,370 fatwas (religious edicts) during the first week of Ramadan, according to a statement by its official spokesperson, Dr. Ahmad Harasis. This period saw a significant number of religious consultations, reflecting the community's engagement with religious guidance during the holy month.

According to Jordan News Agency, Harasis detailed that the department addressed 208 actual and 575 non-actual divorce cases, while 896 fatwas were delivered during personal interviews. The statistics showcase the department's active role in providing religious guidance on a variety of personal and communal matters.

Out of the total fatwas, 9,097 were issued through phone calls, 15 were in response to written questions, 80 came via text messages, 1,102 were processed through the department's website, 307 were addressed on Facebook, and 90 were delivered as responses during radio shows. This diverse range of communication channels highlights the department's efforts to reach the community effectively.

Harasis also pointed out the primary causes of divorce and marital disputes during the first week of Ramadan, which often stem from a lack of understanding and fulfillment of familial and marital responsibilities. The statistics collected during this period reflect the Jordanian society's dedication to religious observance, indicating that religion remains a core component of their culture and customs.
