Amman: The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, along with the German-Jordanian University (GJU) and the Jordan Strategy Forum, recently launched Jordan's National Report as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2024-2025. The report highlights significant progress for Jordan in various entrepreneurship indicators.
According to Jordan News Agency, the report is an integral part of the "Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment in Jordan (E4DE)" project. This initiative is implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and receives support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union.
The findings reveal that Jordan ranks 2nd among seven participating Arab countries in the Early Stage Entrepreneurship Activity Index. Notably, there has been a marked reduction in the gender gap from 9.2% to 3%, signaling an advancement in women's empowerment in entrepreneurship. Additionally, Jordan holds the 2nd position in the Existing Business Ownership Index, underscoring the sustainability of entrepreneurial ventures in the country.
The report also notes improvements in the entrepreneurial environment, particularly in market dynamics, government policies, support programs, and market entry regulation. In a move to foster future collaboration, the ministry, GJU, and Jordan Strategy Forum have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance research capabilities and ensure consistent participation in future reports.
