Amman: The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the Irish Embassy in Jordan have launched the Jordanian-Irish Innovation Task Force, marking a collaborative initiative aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in technology, education, and digital transformation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the task force seeks to link the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems in both countries and create new avenues for economic and technological cooperation. The initiative was inaugurated during a meeting of the Jordanian-Irish Joint Working Committee in Amman, chaired by Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smirat and Irish Ambassador to Jordan Marianne Bolger. The event saw participation from representatives of government agencies, academic institutions, private sector entities, and innovation support organizations from both nations.
The task force was established as a joint initiative by the ministry through the Jordan Source program, the Irish Embassy in Jordan, and the Jordanian embassy in London. It serves as a platform that unites governments, the private sector, universities, and innovation and investment institutions to foster partnerships and joint initiatives with measurable economic impacts. Minister Smirat highlighted that the task force underscores the robust Jordanian-Irish relations and both countries' commitment to expanding cooperation in sectors geared towards the future.
Smirat emphasized that Jordan is keen on fostering an environment supportive of innovation and entrepreneurship, accelerating digital transformation, and equipping youth with future-ready skills as part of its economic modernization vision. Ambassador Bolger noted that the task force is a significant step in cementing Jordanian-Irish relations, providing a practical platform for exchanging knowledge, expertise, and building sustainable partnerships between institutions of both nations.
The meeting's participants explored cooperation opportunities in technology, entrepreneurship, investment, education, and research. They also discussed enhancing ties between startups, investors, business accelerators, and innovation centers in both countries. The task force will focus on three main pillars: strengthening governmental and institutional cooperation, building bridges between innovation and investment ecosystems, and expanding cooperation in education, scientific research, and talent development.
Both sides agreed to continue collaboration through specialized teams, regular meetings, and joint initiatives to convert cooperation opportunities into tangible projects, enhancing innovation and investment and creating new opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs in both countries.
