Jordan Engages in Climate Response Program in Netherlands

Amman: A delegation from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing recently took part in a four-day knowledge exchange visit to the Netherlands. The event was organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and World Waternet, with support from the Embassy of Netherlands in Amman.

According to Jordan News Agency, the visit is part of the ministry's commitment to enhance infrastructure readiness to tackle climate change challenges. The engagement aimed to exchange expertise in flash flood management and sustainable urban drainage systems, while exploring solutions to address flash floods and improve water security.

During the visit, the delegation learned about practices in designing and implementing resilient infrastructure, methods for integrating natural and creating solutions, and integrated urban planning to address climate change impacts. The discussions also touched on cooperation opportunities and technical knowledge transfer to support the development of future projects in Jordan.

The ministry affirmed its commitment to using this new expertise in developing national policies and enhancing the readiness of Jordanian cities to address climate change, in line with national goals and climate adaptation plans.
